This rescue is a privately run rescue operation for the Wire-haired Vizsla.
Our mission is to aid Wire-Haired Vizslas who have been abandoned to shelters, picked up as strays, or surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them.
We are supported entirely by donations, and therefore welcome/appreciate any donations of funds or supplies.
Fortunately, we do not get many dogs into rescue, due to the small numbers of Wire-Haired Vizslas in this country, but we do sometimes have a dog who needs a new home. If you feel adopting an adult dog would be the right choice for you, please contact us by phone or email for an application.
Also, if interested in volunteering your time to foster, transport, or evaluate a dog, get in touch with us as well and request a volunteer application. There are many ways in which you can help by volunteering in the area of your expertise.
We always welcome support to help us achieve the goal of safely rehoming dogs in need. We welcome donations of supplies, or monetary donations to our rescue funds.
For any rescue related inquiries, please feel free to contact me:
Hello everyone! I am writing to see if any of you may know of someone that would be interested in adopting my dog. It's the most heartbreaking thing I have had to experience, having to place him, but the trouble is that he has shown he is not willing to live a life with children. He is fine with my own three kids, but he does not tolerate their friends, our neighbors, etc. And being a busy mom of three young kids leaves me with too many variables and the risk of an inevitable accident of him being out when a friend comes by unexpectedly. He has never bitten, but he has shown he might if pressed.
He is a purebred Wirehaired vizsla. He is 2 years old. Neutered. He knows many commands, including all basic obedience, tricks, loose leash walking, etc. He is a natural hunter, earning the NAVHDA Natural Ability title with a prize 2 in November 2015. He has taken three foundation agility classes and shows promise there. He loves nosework as well. He crates nicely and is calm in the house. He gets along with many dogs, but he does play roughly and can be pushy. He seems to get on best with other pointing/flushing breeds like weims and springers. He would not do well with intact males or dogs with a strong personality. He sometimes resource guards as well, though he shares nicely with my older Labrador. He is extremely affectionate with the people he knows best. He will hug you to greet you. He isn't allowed on furniture here, but he would love nothing more than a snuggle on the couch with his human.
I can't stress enough that this a dog with a lot to give and if it weren't for the kid issue I would be able to work through the rest of his quirks. He will be a gem in the right situation. I require a home with no children at all. None that visit and no possibility of them in the future. References will be required. He would do best in a more rural setting where seeing people and dogs on walks is less common. We are currently in the suburbs of Orange County, CA and require any placement to be within driving distance. I should also mention that he is a large dog. Being a Wirehaired Vizlsa he is already a bigger breed, but he is over the breed standard at nearly 28" and 75lbs. Thank you!
9 yr old neutered male, located in Michigan.
He is neutered, will be up to date on vaccines, negative heartworm and stool check done just last week. He gets along with other dogs. He has had basic field training as a young dog, but is rusty from not being hunted for years..., but with some practice and refreshing, he could probably hunt again. Hes gentle with children, but wasnt raised with kids. Hes housetrained and is used to being left home alone when owner worked, but was never crated (so isnt yet crate trained).
There will be a small adoption fee. Interested parties should contact me at email@example.com
Ozwald is no longer in need of a home. thank you all for your interest in him!
Special Needs five-year old Wirehaired Vizla looking for his forever home. Rowdy was rescued after his owner died and is currently living with his foster family in Ottawa, Ontario. Rowdy is an extremely friendly dog. He is perfect for a busy household as he is an extremely affectionate dog. He is incredible with children, adults and other dogs. Rowdy does well on his walks, only barks when he is looking to play, and really just wants to hang out with everyone. He suffers from stage 1 hip dysplasia and arthritis but he is on medication and it certainly does not impact him walking or playing. His forever home must be willing to give him his medications and the affection this wonderful dog deserves. I can be reached at home at 613 825 4116 or cell at 613 818 4212 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
